We pay more attention to the things that we buy for than the things we get for free. If we pay to go see a movie rather than go to a free screening, we have higher expectations of it because we have something on the line.
In the past decade, there has been a shift in how we consume music. While before we had to purchase a song or record if we wanted to listen to that specific song– now we no longer have to. We can listen on-demand with a cheap monthly subscription.
