rigorous honesty

The phrase, “rigorous honesty” has origins in addiction recovery programs but I think it is for everyone.

I think there is a tendency to water-down the truth, or to soften, or blur it because it is easier. This tendency points to the fear we feel around knowing the truth- that perhaps we won’t be able to handle it. That it will be uncomfortable. But why do we need to be comfortable?
