Some people need to feel perfectly equipped before diving into a new ritual. They need to buy new work out clothes and shoes before starting the habit of running. Or a new computer before they start writing. But why? Instead you could start the new thing, and then figure out exactly what you need. I think we often need to few “ready” and buying things make us feel that way, but we don’t need to feel ready— we can’t just dive in with our deficiencies.
