control versus yes and

In my experience, the more you try to mold the thing you’re creating into what you want it be, the more resistance I usually feel. Alternatively, if I observe what it is turning into and add in ideas– it will come more freely and it will be a more joyful process.

In improv, they call this, “yes, and…” The idea is that nothing is more of a buzzkill then, “no.” I think it is equally applicable to any creative venture.
