Libraries are one of the most egalitarian public spaces in our current culture. All you have to do to access the space is walk through the door. All you have to do to borrow a book is provide a street address. The resources are free and available to anyone who ventures in.

And what is to be gained by perusing through the shelves? Hundreds of years of people using their voices to sum up the human experience. There is no feeling that has not been felt. No thought that has not been thought. All captured with words, sitting on a shelf, remind us that we are not alone.
